This distinguished gentleman obviously makes a tongue-in-cheek reference to the ´murica stigma pickup drivers usually experience...

Nothing says Freedom like being able to tragically misspell words on vanity plates. What I really don't get, is there's usually a 7 character limit on vanity plates, if I'm not mistaken.
F-R-E-E-D-O-M.. would have fit just fine - this is deliberate idiocy.

Fredum is a Latin term which means a composition paid by a criminal. It is a fine paid for obtaining pardon when the peace had been broken. The fine is paid as a protection against the right of revenge.

So someone wronged him, he sued, got money, and bought a truck. I am going to go with that. I like that idea better than bad spelling.
And, learned a new word thanks for that.
